JOIN OUR TEAM
The Society of Women Engineers Toronto aims to catalyze the creation of supportive communities where women engineers feel enabled, empowered, and inspired. From programming to communications, we are entirely volunteer-run and we would love to have you on the team.
Our current openings include:
UNIVERSITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE
Are you a recent alumni or an undergraduate student in your final year? We are looking for Liaisons to join the University Outreach Committee and facilitate connections between their universities and the SWE Toronto Professional Affiliate. If you enjoy networking and communicating with others, and have knowledge on programs, societies, clubs, and initiatives in your university community, this role could be a great fit.
The goal of the University Outreach Committee is to connect graduating engineers with the Professional Affiliate so that they have a community once they enter the engineering workforce. We achieve this goal by partnering with on-campus Women in Engineering (WiE) and Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) clubs to deliver quality events for students, attending and promoting SWE at career fairs, and inviting university students to our SWE Speaks and Coffee Club events.
COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING COMMITTEE
Do you enjoy working with online platforms or are you looking to gain website design experience? We are looking for a Website Manager to join our Communications and Marketing Committee! The Website Manager will be responsible for keeping the SWE Toronto website up to date with events, Board news, and blog posts by coordinating with other members of the SWE team (graphic design volunteer, Programs volunteers) to gather necessary information. A creative eye is also encouraged; we welcome improvements to the function and style of our website and the Website Manager will be responsible for driving and implementing any changes.
MAJOR EVENT COORDINATOR
Are you passionate about building community, enthusiastic about networking, and actively engaged regarding STEM and gender- related workplace topics? The Major Event Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects of organizing our larger events (ex: for National Engineering Month or International Women in Engineering Day). The role can include liaising with speakers, coordinating drop-in volunteers, organizing venues, confirming topics and dates, and moderating events.
DAY-OF EVENT VOLUNTEERS
Do you enjoy executing events and meeting new people? We are looking for day-of volunteers for our SWE Speaks events. Day-of volunteers will be responsible for signing guests in and out, directing attendees to the appropriate facilities and making sure attendees feel welcome in the SWE community. Attending the events is an added bonus.
Do you identify as a planner with a capital P? We are looking for an enthusiastic event coordinator to join our Programs team. The Event Coordinator will brainstorm ideas for events, coordinate logistics, and interface with speakers. This role will work directly with the Programs and Partners Directors and is perfect for someone looking to make their mark on SWE Toronto.
COFFEE CLUB FACILITATOR
We are looking for a Coffee Club facilitator for our monthly Coffee Club, which occurs on the last Saturday of every month. This role will include prepping topics and discussion questions in advance, facilitating discussion during the event, and creating post-event write-ups. This role will work directly with the Programs Directors.
We are looking for a venue coordinator to assist the Outreach team in finding venues for upcoming SWE Toronto events. This role can include reaching out to venues for availability and interest, meeting with venue owners, and visiting potential venues to take photos.
SWE TORONTO AMBASSADOR
As an Ambassador, you will promote the SWE Toronto brand and programs, recruit SWE members, and initiate potential collaborations with community groups, professional organizations, businesses, and media. To initiate potential collaborations, you will attend engineering professional development events in the Toronto area; this will be a key role for SWE Toronto to grow and great for personal development. We are looking for someone who is passionate about partnerships and who is a motivated connector to promote SWE Toronto!
Apply for any of the positions above using the form below. If none of the available positions interest you, please fill out the form anyways and we will try our best to find a good fit!
