Miguel Lopez, B.Eng, MSc, MBA is an Operations and Supply Chain Management professional with 20+ years of experience in the Medical Device and Pharmaceutical Industries. Miguel has a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s degree in Manufacturing. He started as a Production Planner in Becton Dickinson in Mexico City. Miguel migrated to Canada 10 years ago and got his first job as a Consultant for Accenture. He later changed jobs to Talecris (blood/plasma industry) during which he also completed his MBA from the Laurier School of Business and Economics at the Toronto campus. Currently he works for SciCan as Director of Operations where he is revamping the Supply Chain, Procurement and Production long term strategy with more than 50 reports. Miguel volunteers with Access Employment, mentoring professional newcomers to integrate into their fields of experience here in Canada. He is also a mentor for TRIEC (Toronto Region Immigrant Council). Miguel will share his professional journey in Canada and explain the process of creating a Professional Development Plan.
Dr. Azadeh Yadollahi is a Scientist at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – University Health Network, where she leads the SleepdB laboratory. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Biomaterial and Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto and Adjunct Faculty Member in the Graduate Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Manitoba. Her research aims to determine the pathophysiology of sleep-related breathing disorders and to develop novel technologies for improved management of these disorders. She is particularly interested in developing innovative technologies for monitoring of physiological signals at home and implementing personalized treatments for older populations with chronic sleep-related respiratory diseases.
